Saint Vitus

In 1979 Saint Vitus was found, from sabbath arose a new doom band. Dave Chandler being the guitarist god that he is, legendary vocalist wino, Mark Adams, and Armando Acosta finish this amazing assortment of musicians. Posted is Saint Vitus their first release.

The Teeth of the Lions Rule the Divine

Super groups almost never work, this is a good shot into a doom/drone/ambient super group. The band name representing an earth song off of the album "Earth 2" this group consists of Greg Anderson, Stephen O'Malley, Lee Dorian (Cathedral), and Justin Greaves (Iron Monkey, Electric Wizard). This band has one release, "Rampton", think Sunn with heavy heavy drums. I enjoy this album especially the first song.

Top 3 Death Metal Albums

Here are my 3 favorites;
#1. Altars of Madness
Released: May 12th - 1989 by Morbid Angel
Altars of Madness defines death metal for me, with technically incredible Riffs, tempo changes, speed. But most of all, this album brings forth the glory sound of 80s/early 90s death metal. The album is very well produced, everything is audible on every song, and the vocals are raw but audible and aggressive. I love everything about this album.

#2. Dark Recollections
Released: 1990 by Carnage
With as much early good early 90s death metal that came out of Sweden, it is likely that the second album would be from Sweden, and it is... from the band Carnage. Although not as popular as many death metal bands from Sweden carnage delivers its share of incredible music. This piece is raw and down to its Swedish roots. The song gentle exhuming shows the raw fast style of Carnage that is forgotten now.

#3. Piece of Time
Released: 1991 by Atheist
Technically amazing, the perfect complexion of Death, Thrash and Jazz. This album is the perfect tech death album, with each song leading up to the other, faster and faster, more complex riffs and melodies as you listen. The tracks Life and Room with a View are excellent examples of technically perfect metal. Although their follow up album (Unquestionable Presence) brings in more technical elements, they lose Roger Patterson (RIP) and lose some of their speed which took my by breath at first listen. The best thing i like about Atheist is how it shits on revocation.
